Did you hear the old joke, “Do you know the difference between a Lutheran pessimist and a Lutheran optimist? The Lutheran pessimist says, “Life is so bad, it can’t get worse!” The Lutheran optimist says, “Yes it can!” Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you view it. We control our attitude; therefore, we control 90% of our life. Our attitude affects not only our own happiness, but if affects others as well. If you don’t believe us, just spend a few hours with a pessimist. How is your attitude changed?

As we look ahead to 2012, we see it filled with wonder as to what God has planned for us at Holy Trinity. We will have so many opportunities to serve God this coming year, but it is going to take all of us optimistically pulling together to glorify God’s kingdom as He is leading us. We need leaders, players, and yes, even cheerleaders, to meet God’s challenges. Do you have something you believe God is calling us to do? Are there ministries of our church where your energy and input would expand and/or revitalize their mission? Can you increase your giving so that the funding is available for our ministries?

We lift up these questions for you to not just pray about, but to act upon. God calls each of us to ministry in action. No matter what your age, you are needed to make this church – this community of faith – everything God wants us to be. With your optimism, we can make it happen and anything can happen.

On another note, we want to thank each and every one of you for the very generous Christmas gift, cards, and prayers for our ministry that we received. You bless us beyond our expectations and we give thanks to our Lord and Savior that He has called us into ministry together.
